Winnipeg’s Seth Jarvis Officially Signs With Carolina

On Monday morning, the Carolina Hurricanes announced the signing of Winnipeg product Seth Jarvis to a three-year, entry-level contract. The deal features an NHL salary of $833K and AHL salary of $80K annually. Jarvis’ signing bonus is north of $275K.

“Seth is an extremely talented player with elite puck skills and scoring ability,” Hurricanes’ GM Don Waddell said in a team-issued press release. “He has a very bright future, and we are excited to watch him continue his development into an NHL player.”

The 18-year-old was selected 13th overall in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft by Carolina back in early-October. Currently home to Strathclair’s Morgan Geekie, Brandon’s Jordan Martinook, Morweena’s James Reimer and Winnipeg’s Stelio Mattheos, the Hurricanes now have a fifth Manitoban in the system moving forward.

“I know Geeks and Stelio a little bit, so it’s going to be nice having some familiar faces down there,” Jarvis told Game On. “It’s awesome because any time that you can go into an organization already knowing a couple people, it makes the transition a little easier. It makes blending in and fitting in a little smoother. They are a great organization and I just can’t wait to get down there.”

He began is career with the Winterhawks in 2018-19, where he scored 16 goals and 39 points in 61 games, before exploding with a 42-goal, 98-point COVID-19 shortened 2019-20 campaign, to which he only skated in 58 games. Through his 130-game WHL career, Jarvis has 58 goals and 139 points. Last season, he put up points in 45 of 58 games, while scoring more than one point in 28 contests.
